Notes: Hannah Thurber Fairfield was the daughter of David and Hannah (Thurber) Fairfield. She was born in Woodstock, CT, January 26th, 1808. Hannah and her husband, Franklin Nichols, resided in Norwich, CT, during most of their married lives. According to family historian Frank Corbin, Franklin "was a sheriff and later entered the employ of Thames National Bank of Norwich. He advanced steadily and had been president of that bank many years when he died." The couple did not have any children. However, Mary E. Williams, the youngest child of Lucy A. (Fairfield) Williams, Hannah's niece, lived with them for many years. Franklin died in 1890 and Hannah died July 15, 1894. Hannah was an accomplished oil painter, with prints of at least one of her paintings available on the open market today.
