Notes: Mary was the daughter of Joseph R. and Florinda (Young) Fairfield. She was born in April 1865 in Illinois. She migrated to Kansas and Indiana with her parents before 1900. According to this census, she wed Thomas Canfield Hawley circa 1896. They evidently moved to Minnesota before their first child, Alice, was born there in October 1898. They remained in Minnesota until circa 1904, when their son Thomas was born there. Afterward, they migrated to Missouri, where son David was born, then Elkhorn, Calif., where Thomas was a prominent poultry farmer for several decades.
