Notes: George was the son of Clement and Lucinda (Fairfield) Perkins. He was born August 23, 1839, in Maine. He served a single term as the governor of California from 1880-1883. Elected as U.S. Senator in 1893 to fill vacant seat of Leland Stanford. Reelected in 1896 and 1903.
