Notes: William Dade McKinstry was the son of Colonel Alexander McKinstry and his wife, Virginia (Dade). William was born February 27, 1856, in Mobile, Alabama, and became a lawyer like his father. He married Evelyn "Eva" Sheldon January 12, 1881. Sadly, William and Eva died in Mobile of illnesses within just a couple weeks of each other, William on April 22, 1900, and Eva on May 9, 1900, leaving six orphaned children. In this census, taken just a month after his death, William's sister Virginia is the head of household and guardian of the children. Also orphaned and living with his cousins is Thomas "Ingersoll" Sheldon Moffat, son of William's sister Louise, who died shortly after giving birth in 1883.
