Notes: Mary E. Williams was the daughter of Lucy Ann (Fairfield) and Thomas W. Williams. She lived many years with her aunt and uncle, Hannah Thurber (Fairfield) and Franklin Nichols, in Norwich, CT. She appears on the 1880 census, their last, all on Broadway Street. The 1900 census listing for Mary is also on Broadway Street, which provides strong support for this entry being the correct one, though it would appear Mary was fibbing, as MANY women did on the census, about her age. In the 1860 census, Mary's age was 17; in 1870 it was 25; in 1880 it was 35. Thus we'd expect her to be around 55 by 1900. Moreover, family historian Frank Corbin guessed her birth year (unrecorded) must be around 1843. Nonetheless, it's the best match available. Frank Corbin also recorded that she died single in Norwich, CT, in about 1905.
